Sam’s Boots 

From a final visit with the local legend, the folk artist, Sam The Dot McMillan. In his sixties, he began painting anything he could. Chairs, desks, mailboxes. Dots and primary colors were his signature. Sam always had such a good humor about sharing his late in life love with anyone willing or interested. That day I visited his quiet studio, he sat in a wheelchair, diminished but happy for the company and still styling, sporting his hand-painted boots designed to light up any occasion.
